KIBERA WOMEN FOR PEACE AND FAIRNESS

Grassroots organiser |

I work with adolescent girls through 16 schools based in Kibera Slums in Nairobi Kenya, our slogan called G-PENDE is a Kiswahili word for love yourself which is about developing capacities of girls to fight manipulation and violence. I also work with women around economic empowerment so that they are self reliant and therefore not prone to manipulation and violence. Our activities include sporting activities for coexistence and also create safe space where adolescent girls and even women can meet, play and talk about their personal issues. Hygiene and sanitation where we distribute detergents to clean toilets, as well as pads and panties for the girls, we map harassment through crowd data sourcing, and also economic empowerment for women through group loan and saving.
